Founders of the brands of Adidas and Puma. The brothers were partners in a shoe company Adi started, "Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik" (English: Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory). Rudi joined in 1924. However, after a feud developed between Rudolf and Adolf Dassler following World War II , the brothers went separate ways and started their own companies in 1948.

By 1927 the company had expanded to 12 additional workers, forcing the pair to find bigger quarters. Adolf Dassler was born on 3 November 1900, in Herzogenaurach, Germany, as the youngest child of Christoph and Pauline Dassler. He had two brothers—Fritz and Rudolf—and a sister — Marie. Though Christoph belonged to the family of weavers and dyers, he left the profession after the decline of textile industry. The Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory in Herzogenaurach was registered in the middle of the summer of 1924. Adolf Dasler was a thoughtful and talented designer, and Rudy was an excellent salesperson. Different characters and human qualities perfectly complemented the cooperation of the brothers.
